Thanks for the suggestion. I recently dusted off my hot air gun to remove some surface mounted components so I may have a go.

I know I'm a bit late for a follow-up on your post but I stumbled upon it searching for the same type of solution.

I tried buffing out some scratches from some hockey visors and a motorcycle visor and I think what would be the final touch to your work would be to use a heat gun and carefully heat the surface.

Just don't overheat the visor or some bubbles will form on the surface but otherwise it will remove all the small scratches made by the buffing.

Thanks for the tutorial. I have 2 canon 30 Ds. I do wedding photography on the side and use one for backup. But I'm thinking about putting wedding photography on the back burner and use my 2nd camera to experiment with infrared. I know paying someone to do this can cost about $250 - $400. So this tutorial really helps me out. I will let you know if I go through with it.

Hi thanks for this demo. I'm actually having to replace my broke shutter on my 30D...so I'm at the part where it looks like I have to remove the right MB and then the large steel plate to access the shutter assymbly. Also, I found my 30D with a loose and one screw missing on the tripod mount (yes I figure there's a loose screw from the tripod mount somewhere inside or it was never installed with two screws. Also, the right MB top right screw is missing...hummm. I also noticed a lot of finger prints inside which seems odd. My unit was bought new from Dell about 3 years ago.
